What is the difference between category 1 and cat. 0 3 pt hitches.?

Cat 0 does not have a pto output shaft on the rear of the tractor. A Cat 1 will have the pto output shaft to drive implments. This means you are somewhat limited with the choice of implments that you can attach to a Cat 0 tractor. ....

The hitch category has nothing to do with PTO. There are Cat. 1 tractors with no PTO and Cat 0 with PTO. It has to do with the size of the hitch pins and the spacing between hitch points. If I remember correctly, a Cat. 0 hitch has 5/8" lower link pins, a 3/4" top link pin and the lower link points are 20" apart. A Cat 1 hitch has 3/4" lower link pins, a 7/8" top link pin and the lower link points are 26" apart. There is also a hybrid 0/1 hitch on some smaller compacts (like a Kubota B6000) which uses the Cat 1 size pins at the Cat 0 spacings. Large tractors have Cat. 2 and 3 hitches with larger pins and bigger spacings. ....

I have been told that the cat 1 3pt on the smaller mitsu tractors is adjustable to operate cat 0 3pt implements by inverting the lift arms. I have not tried this yet.Another thing I have found out that seems kinda odd is rotating the rear tires to change the overall width of the tractor from 38in to 35in?? I was able to fit into a small gate doing this.Ian ....
